Goodbye 2014, Hello 2015

Before I completely leave 2014 behind, let’s take a moment to remember everything this year brought to my life. I think it’s safe to discuss what my New Years resolution was this past year since we are at the conclusion of it. “Just say yes.” It sounds completely vague to just anyone, but the reason I decided to follow it all the way up to now was because I know how indecisive I am. It’s not just that either, I always have to ask someone their opinion on what I should do and I just thought that as a person this could certainly help me grow. This resolution honestly lead me to some of the most important, stand-out events of the year & I’m forever grateful.

A great friendship started on January 1st 2014 that made me extremely happy for most of the year. Even though we were all kind of heart broken during the times we hung out, we made those times easier on each other by just being crazy & fun. That was my first real “group” of friends, or the “crew” as we called it…or was it the “gang”? I kind of forgot but that is beside the point, they were the best.

About a month later, I received a 4/4 in VASE, my first photography contest & I was so proud haha. That was my first accomplishment of 2014 that had anything to do with my future career.

I also got the chance to meet the Eli Young Band which was a pretty cool opportunity even if we only talked for 5 seconds.

I went to my very first prom with my best friend. I think the preparation before prom was so much fun, especially with her. Dress shopping, getting our makeup done, everything was just so cool to be able to share together, ya know? Aw.

My 17th birthday rolled around and I was actually afraid it would not beat my 16th birthday for multiple reasons. Guess what? It totally did. I got balloons for the very first time..I know, How exciting right?! Well it made me happy so it’s all good. I actually got to hear a good friend sing “Happy Birthday” to me in front of a lot of people, that was pretty special. All my friends made me feel like a princess that day so it definitely beat my 16th birthday. Oh, and I got my first polaroid camera that week which made things pretty sweet.

After school ended and summer began, I was off to Europe. The Europe trip was a very spontaneous decision, I did not know anyone going and it was my first time out of the country, without parents & for almost a month. I started out in Italy, went to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and France. I learned so much about other people, about history, and about myself. I got the wonderful opportunity to travel the world and take pictures and realize so much more that that’s what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Travel. Take pictures.

Coming home from Europe made me appreciate everything I have here in Texas. So much that I cried when I saw my parents. I made a few great friends on that trip and I think in a weird way I got closer to my parents because of it. Waiting on me when I got to my house was a little kitten who continues to make my days up to now. I never saw myself as a cat lady, but hey, you never know.

Let’s not forget the random trip to New Orleans with my best friend, basically sister. I did because she needed some cheering up. She may not have enjoyed as much as I did, but I would love to go back one day. I loved the environment.

I began my senior year and I was happy. I began started taking senior portraits, and I got to come home everyday at 12, and things were just good. I also started this blog around this time because of YouTubers that I still admire and watch everyday.

Did I mention I cut my hair??..again it was a spontaneous.crazy, decision but I’ve never been happier, OR more confident. It’s just so crazy how a change in hair can give someone confidence..in the way they dress, or act or feel. Best decision ever if I’m being truthful.

I later had my own senior portraits done, which came out amazing might I add.

In October, I had my very last Homecoming and it was the best one yet. I am extremely proud to be graduating from Tech in the spring. Oh and I was accepted to where I want to go to college, so yeah that’s out of the way. So glad I didn’t have to stress out as much.

November came & went but before it vanished, I spent a week in Spain. I don’t know how to describe that trip, I got close to some people, actually fell for someone whilst I was there, and got into a lot of trouble. HA. I guess those are the kind of things I’ll remember when I’m older even though I was quite annoyed when it was happening. People getting extremely intoxicated, concussions in Barcelona, kisses above oceans, & a lot of other crazy events that occurred during that holiday.

Now that this year is over in a few hours, I’m so thankful for the people who have managed to stay in my life for years, or at least through this year. I’m happy I got to spend time with my family during the Christmas holidays.

Photography is going super well, being a finalist in the Black & White competition, shooting for FW Lifestyle Magazine & shooting for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Gala. TOTALLY FORGOT YOU GUYS, I AM NOW ADOBE CERTIFIED!:)
Also received my letterman. Wowww I keep forgetting the most important things!

I’ve had so many adventures this past year and I’m so excited for the New Year. This was only to look back on 2014, there will be a whole new post tomorrow to begin 2015.

Happy New Years Eve!!

Love Always,
Deanna Marie
