December 2, 16
A little over a year ago, I made the decision that Owen needed a playmate, a new sibling. I knew with my work hours increasing, he would need someone to keep him company. After asking Angel & my mom if I was crazy, & them saying no, haha, I began my search. On a cold, crisp, December afternoon my mom and I ended up at Petsmart (big surprise, I am always there) and I laid eyes on a little kitten named Junior. All I knew was that her previous owner surrendered her & that she was 5 months old. She wouldn't stop crying and following me back and forth from behind the glass. I asked to see her and I just fell in love. She was crazy though, jumping on all the cat stairs, knocking down the cleaning supplies in that meet and greet room. You would think this would scare me, but it made me want her even more. I face timed Angel to show him her as this would be his cat, and he liked her. I signed her adoption papers and we were on our way.
The introduction process between Owen and the new kitten ended up going really bad. They hated each other right off the bat. Then Owen hated me for a week afterward. If we made any kind of eye contact he would hiss at me and run away. It took about two weeks for everything to cool down, but now they are a good pair.
We ended up naming her Eva and it totally fits her. She is my only girl in a household full of boys, & I think she realizes that. It's her and I that are kind of inseparable. Every morning she wakes up and wants to knead and cuddle. She also talks the most out of all the animals with her little, sweet cry. Eva also has a talent when it comes to fetching her toys, they come right back to you and she cries until you throw it again. Her bad habit is loving human food. My other two cats never wanted anything other than their cat food, but Eva loves everything. I usually find her sitting next to me every time I eat, which is kind of nice to be quite honest. Don't worry, she doesn't get excessive amounts of any kind of human food, just a little taste here and there. Out of all my cats, it seems she's the healthiest, so I am proud she's happy and healthy. In the beginning, she was cautious of human behavior, she didn't completely trust us, but now that it's been a year she's certain she has a family now.
As you all know, these animals are my pride and joy. They make me so happy, and being able to give them all a warm, safe home, especially with the holidays coming up, warms my heart. They are my heart. Please, if you all ever have the chance to adopt an animal in need, do it. They are forever grateful and will always stay loyal.
Love Always,
Deanna Marie :)
